Sterling starts the week just over 0.5% stronger against both the US dollar and euro this morning.
The currency that it’s strongest against, at 1.3% up on the week, is the Japanese yen (JPY).
Perhaps the pound has taken inspiration – as many of us will this morning – from Tom Daley who, with his synchro diving partner Matty Lee has taken gold at his fourth Olympic attempt this morning in Tokyo.
If anything demonstrates the power of persistence, it’s this.
And if anything captures the process of buying a property or retiring abroad, it’s the long years of dreaming, planning and effort, followed by the abject terror of throwing yourself off a 10-metre diving board.
Selling your home in the UK, waving goodbye to family and friends and heading to Spain, France, Portugal or even further afield, is not for the faint-hearted. Fortunately, like Tom Daley and Matty Lee, you don’t have to do it alone.
Our partners like Property Guides and Your Overseas Home, as well as the lawyers and estate agents they can introduce you to, form a powerful team. They will be there to help you plan your move, step by step.
Then when it all becomes excitingly, frighteningly real, your Smart trader will be there to ensure the payment goes through safely and efficiently, with barely a splash.
Call your trader on 020 8108 5163 to discuss your options and find the type of currency trade that suits you – whether a spot trade, forward contract or something imbetween. We’ll find the right solution for you.
And congratulations and good luck to all in Team GB!
