Fifty years on from the moon landings it’s even harder to comprehend how they could have done it. They were as close in time to the First World War as we are to Apollo missions, so the technological achievement is almost unimaginable. The bravery too, in strapping themselves into a capsule above a rocket with more power than a nuclear bomb and risking being lost in the loneliness of space.
It would be easy to think that our own generation has under-achieved. But we can’t all go to the moon and as we look at the various possibilities for prime minister over the next year we all need to be a little brave.
My own antidote to any worries about our generation’s prospects is meeting our clients in person, whether at Your Overseas Home or at our offices in Spain and Portugal. Because for an individual it does feel like a giant leap to buy a property abroad. And like the moon landings – where 400,000 people worked in the back rooms and development – you need a team behind you.
When it comes to currency for your own “greatest adventure”, as John F Kennedy described the race to the moon, we hope you will pick us. After all, we still hold the first and second places for currency exchange and money transfer on Trustpilot.

“We choose to go to the moon and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…” said JFK. Here the parallels between buying a home abroad and flying to the moon do rather fail, as it’s actually quite easy to buy abroad! Yes, even with Brexit and even with no deal.
Do check out this simple Brexit infographic that lays it out quite clearly.
